Isla rubbishes Italy return rumours

Mauricio Isla has denied reports that he is looking to end his loan at QPR prematurely and return to Italy.

The Chile international penned a year-long deal at Loftus Road in the last transfer window after finding himself surplus to requirements at Juventus.

Isla initially struggled for form at QPR, as Harry Redknapp s men made a sluggish start in the Premier League, leading to suggestions he would look to move back to Serie A.

However, the 26-year-old put in a much improved showing as QPR defeated Aston Villa 2-0 on Monday and he insists he is committed to the club.

That [going back to Italy] was never going to happen, he told The London Evening Standard.

People talk but I ve never spoken about it. I ve not spoken to a single director at Juventu…

Burnley 2 Liverpool 0: Vokes and Gray bring Klopp´s side back to earth

Sam Vokes and Andre Gray scored their first Premier League goals as Burnley stunned Liverpool with a superb 2-0 victory at Turf Moor.

Playing on the road again as a result of renovation work at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp s men were unable to recapture the inspired form that secured a 4-3 win over Arsenal on the opening weekend.

Unfortunately for their manager, the defensive frailties displayed at Emirates Stadium were quickly evident once more as Wales international Vokes emphatically opened the scoring in the second minute.

Vokes was finding his feet following a serious knee injury during Burnley s 2014-15 foray into the top flight and failed to

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba hits out at ´lies´ over salary cut

Jordi Alba accused people of spreading misinformation regarding his willingness to take a pay cut at Barcelona, insisting he will join Gerard Pique in reducing his salary to help the club s dire financial situation.

After a tumultuous week that saw Lionel Messi complete his stunning switch to Paris Saint-Germain, Barca launched their LaLiga campaign with a 4-2 win over Real Sociedad in which Pique opened the scoring on Sunday.

The former Spain defender headed home a free-kick from new signing Memphis Depay, who was only playing because Pique agreed a substantial salary reduction that allowed Barcelona to register the Netherlands forward within their league-enforced salary limit.

Speaking after the match, where Martin Braithwaite scored two goals and laid on the g…

Man Utd´s Gill says Benitez ´missed the boat´

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has fired back at Rafael Benitez, saying the Liverpool boss missed the boat completely by suggesting he had a conflict of interest.

Benitez, who had earlier accused United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson of hypocrisy and serial whingeing, returned to the fray Monday to point a finger at Gill, a senior figure at England s governing Football Association.

Is there a conflict of interest with David Gill at the FA? asked Benitez, whose side could be overtaken by United at the top of the Premiership if the Red Devils win their two games in hand against Wigan and Bolton.

That is another fact. It is a fact that one person has a lot of power and control, and is on a lot of committees in the FA. To me that is very strange.

Hamren to coach Sweden

Erik Hamren, who led Rosenborg to the Norwegian league title last season, will take over as coach of his native Sweden with immediate effect, the Swedish Football Association said Wednesday.

Hamren, who will replace Lars Lagerbaeck who resigned in October after Sweden failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, will however also stay on as Rosenborg coach until August 31, 2010.

Just last week, the Swedish association said talks with Rosenborg about signing Hamren, 52, had broken down.

After last week s breakdown in the negotiations, the two sides have after a few days break reached an agreement on Erik Hamren becoming Sweden s coach, it said in a statement.

Hamren s job specification will be limited to coaching the squad s international matches until Augu…

Lemina joins Juve as Marseille sign Isla and De Ciglie

Juventus have signed midfielder Mario Lemina on loan from Marseille with an option to make the deal permanent, while Mauricio Isla and Paolo De Ceglie have moved in the opposite direction.

Lemina joined Marseille from Lorient in September 2013 and has netted four goals in 64 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

He now joins a new-look Juve side that has lost both of their first two Serie A matches for the first time in the club s history as the Turin giants target a fifth successive title.

Full-backs Isla and De Ciglie both head to Marseille in loan deals to boost the defence of a Marseille team that has taken three points from the opening four league games.

Marseille have also confirmed centre-back Doria has joined Spanish side Granada on loan with …

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona: Champions look to rekindle Calderon memories

Barcelona return to a ground where they won the first  trophy of an incredible 2014-15 treble on Saturday, knowing that their credentials this season will be tested to the full by Atletico Madrid.

Luis Enrique won his first major honour as Barcelona head coach when a 1-0 win at Vicente Calderon last May  courtesy of Lionel Messi s goal  gave Barca an unassailable lead at the top of La Liga.

But his side will likely be given another stern examination on their latest visit, with both teams having started the season strongly.

The Catalans have not been at their free-flowing best during the first two league games, although 1-0 victories against Athletic Bilbao and Malaga have given them a platform on which to build their title defence.

Madrid deny reports of Mbappe agreement

Real Madrid denied reports they have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for Kylian Mbappe, describing the claims as completely false .

French journalist Baptiste Ripart posted on Twitter on Tuesday that Madrid had agreed deal worth €272million, spread over four payments, to take Mbappe to Madrid.

That report came just a day after Madrid had rejected talk in Spain of a world-record €310million bid for Mbappe s PSG team-mate Neymar, who became the world s most expensive player when he left Barcelona for Paris last year.

And Madrid have moved to issue a similar denial relating to the France international. A club statement read: Given the information published in the last few hours regarding an alleged agreement between Real Madrid C.F. and PSG for the…

Berahino ´nowhere near ready´ to start – Pulis

Saido Berahino remains mentally and physically unavailable for Premier League duty, according to West Brom head coach Tony Pulis.

After a number of rebuffed approaches from Tottenham in September 2015 the striker s stock has fallen dramatically over the past 12 months Berahino blaming the pressure of media focus for his fall from grace.

The 23-year-old has only featured five times in all competitions for the Baggies this season, his last appearance coming in West Brom s 1-0 win over Bournemouth on September 10.

In November he was twice sent to France in a bid to improve his conditioning but he still remains a long way from forcing his way into Pulis plans.

Saido s getting on with his job. We need to get games into him, Pulis said of the striker, who is o…
